Some Conditions of Salaah in Jamaat (congregation) SOME CONDITIONS OF SALAAH IN JAMAAT
Who should be an Imaam?
Rule: The Imaam should be a Muslim, male, sane, adult, one who knows
the
rules of Salaah. If any of these aspects are not found in an Imaam
then the
Salaah will not be valid behind him.
Rule: The person who performs Rukooh and Sajdah cannot pray behind a
person
who prays by action only. However, if both the Imaam and Muqtadee
both pray
with actions then they can follow each other .
Order of praying Salaah behind a person with wrong beliefs
Rule: To make a 'Bud Mazhab' (person with corrupt beliefs) - whose
beliefs
have not gone outside the folds of Islam, an Imaam is a sin and to
pray
Salaah behind him would make the Salaah Makrooh-e-Tahrimi and would
have to
be repeated as this would be Waajib .
Rule: Salaah behind those Bad Mazhabs whose beliefs have gone out of
the
folds of Islam such as Wahabi; Deobandi; Tableeghi; Ahla-Hadith;
Rafzi
(Shi'ites, even if they only reject the fact of Hazrat Abubakr being
a
Caliph or a Sahhabi or insults the Shaikhain Radi Allahu Ta'ala
Anhuma);
those who believe that the Holy Qur'aan is man made; those who reject
intercession or seeing Allah on the day of Hashr; or the punishment
of the
grave or the existence of Kiraman Katibeen;... etc cannot be
performed
. There is an even more stricter rule for those
who call
themselves Muslims and infact follow the Sunnats but still reject
some
important beliefs of religion (Zarooriyat-e-Deen) and insult Allah
and His
Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam or at least believe those who
insult
Allah and His Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam as Muslims, Salaah
behind
these is also strictly prohibited.
Order of following a Fasiq
Rule: To make an open wrongdoer (Fasiq Mu'allin) such as a person who
drinks alcohol; gambles; adulterer; one who obtains interest money;
one who
shaves beard (without reason); one who wears gold or more than one
silver
ring, one who has hair which is more than the shar'ee prescribed
length -
i.e. shoulder length, ...etc an Imaam is a sin and Salaah behind
them would be Makrooh-e-Tahrimi
and to repeat it is Waajib
Rule: Following a Fasiq (eg. One who shaves the beard, etc ) is not allowed
except for in Jumu'ah as there is no alternative for this. If there
are
other nearby Masjids that perform the Jumu'ah prayers then you
should go
there .

FOLDING CLOTHING FOR SALAAH
One of the matters that are commonly misunderstood, particularly amongst the Muslim Brothers, is the Shariah rulings surrounding the folding of garments.
Insha'Allah with this we wish to remove the confusion surrounding this topic.
Many brothers are aware of the following Hadeeth:
Narrated By Hadhrat Abu Huraira RadiAllahu anh: The Prophet Sallalahu alaihi wasallam said, \"The part of the Izar which hangs below the ankles is in the Fire\"
After being informed of this Hadeeth, many brothers resort to folding their pants, especially when they perform Salaah. This however, as we would explain later, makes matter worse since this act of folding one's pants for salaah actually renders one's salaah Waajib (necesarry) to repeat.
Similar to the Hadeeth above there is another incident where our master, Nabi Sallalahu alaihi wasallam mentioned a ruling about the pants which cover the ankles. Alhamdulillah, what better way to understand the blessed narrations of Huzoor Sallalahu alaihi wasallam then to combine it with other narrations:
Narrated By Hadhrat 'Abdullah bin 'Umar RadiAllahu anh: The Prophet Sallalahu alaihi wasallam said: \"Allah will not look, on the Day of Resurrection, at the person who drags his garment (behind him) out of conceit.\"
On that Hadhrat Abu Bakr As-Siddique RadiAllahu anh said, \"Ya RasoolAllah! One side of my Izar hangs low if I do not take care of it.\" The Prophet Sallalahu alaihi wasallam said, \"You are not one of those who do that out of conceit.\"
In this Hadeeth Nabi-e-Kareem Sallalahu alaihi wasallam makes a clear distinction in the Shariah, and expresses that it's not so much the folding that is against the Shariah, it's more the folding with intention of pride and arrogance that we are to keep ourselves safe from. Look at the beauty in the question of Hadhrat Abu Bakr As-Siddique RadiAllahu anh - Nabi Sallalahu alaihi wasallam mentions who Allah Azzawajal will look at on the Day of Qiyaamat, and immediately Hadhrat Abu Bakr RadiAllahu anh is rightfully concerned whether he would also be of this fate. He asks the Nabi Sallalahu alaihi wasallam who Allah would look at on the Day of Qiyaamat. Imagine the Knowledge our Beloved RasoolAllah Sallalahu alaihi wasallam is blessed with that, on the spot, he can already clarify who Allah Azzawajal would look at on the Day of Qiyaamat. SubhaanAllah! this is the Aqeedah (Beliefs) of Hadhrat Abu Bakr Siddique RadiAllahu anh that Nabi Sallalahu alaihi wasallam has knowledge of matters which no ordinary person has and without question, this knowledge falls under the category of Ilme Ghaib (knowedge of the unseen), because he did not wait for wahi (revelation) to answer the question (despite it being about the Hereafter), neither did he enquire the intention of Hadhrat Abu Bakr Siddique RadiAllah anh for dragging his garments. SubhaanAllah! Mera Dil bhi Chamka De Chamkaane Waale (Brighten my heart also, Oh! One who Brightens)!
In the above two ahadeeth, Nabi Sallalahu alaihi wasallams gives a warning to those who fold with the intention of conceit. The Fuqaha (Jurists) have determined that these actions are Makrooh-e-Tanzeehi (somewhat disliked). However, with regards to folding the pants, such an action is regarded as Makrooh-e-Tahreemi (reprehensible, close to haraam/impermissability). The reasons for this, is that anything which Nabi Sallalahu alaihi wasallam explicitly commands becomes Waajib upon us. We are instructed more than once with the Beautiful Kalaam of Allah to obey the Rasool Sallalahu alaihi wasallam : \"Wa'atee Allah wa'atee arRasool\" (Obey Allah and Obey the Rasool)
Narrated By Ibn 'Abbas RadiAllahu anh: The Prophet Sallalahu alaihi wasallam said, \"We have been ordered to prostrates on seven bones and not to tuck up the clothes or hair.\"
Therefore if Nabi Sallalahu alaihi wasallam commands something, we are obligated to obey him and would thereby be obeying Allah azzawajal.
Negating a Waajib action is fisq (sin), and to openly commit a sin renders one a Faasiq-Mu'llin (open sinner). It is not permissable to perform salaah behind a Faasiq-Mu'llin and neither is it permissable to take ba'ait (spiritual allegiance) from a Faasiq (because there would be contradiction between showing utmost respect to one's Peer-o-Murshid VS not showing respect to someone who openly rejects important Shariah rulings)
